We point out that the relaxation is monitored by impurity probes in solvation experiments [80], by some of the spectrophotometric methods discussed in Sect. 3, but also in dielectric relaxation studies of polar solutes in non-polar glass-forming hosts. In the latter case the stretching can strongly depend on what substance is used as a probe [81] as well as on its concentration in the host [21]. From Fig. 6, it is obvious that it is advisable to pay special attention to two further types of results because they do not conform to the general trend: These exceptional cases are those of the orientationally disordered (mixed) crystals (marked in the figure with x) and for the simple (aliphatic monohydric) alcohols as measured by dielectric techniques (V).
